Canada Day Fireworks

A celebration was held on Friday, July 1st, 2022 at the boat launch in honour of Canada Day.  Funding for the event was made possible by the Government of Canada Canadian Heritage Celebrate Canada Grant.






Family Day Picnic

​The Summer Village holds a Family Day Picnic each year mid-July.

Planned events generally are scheduled as follows:
7:00 a.m. – Toonie Breakfast
8:00 a.m. – Golfing
2:00 p.m. – Horseshoes / Children’s Games
6:00 p.m. – Supper $5.00/person or $20.00/family - bring a salad or dessert to share with everyone!
10:30 p.m. – Fireworks Show at the boat launch site

Thank you to everyone who attended and helped out at this year's event held on July 16th.   We look forward to seeing everyone at next year's Picnic!​


As the fireworks were rained out, the Family Day Fireworks show was held on Saturday, July 30, 2022. 



Large Bin Clean Up

The Summer Village holds a large bin clean up each year over two days in mid-August.  This provides a good opportunity to help clean up the Summer Village by getting rid of items no longer needed that are laying around properties and cluttering up space!

GENERALLY ACCEPTED ITEMS:
- Metal & white metal including stoves, washers/dryers ($20 per white metal item – exact change only)
- Clean wood
- Mixed household waste (includes stained, treated or painted wood)
- Mattresses ($20 per item – exact change only) 

ITEMS GENERALLY NOT ACCEPTED:
X  Fridges, freezers, watercoolers, air conditioning units
X  Tires, shingles, TVs, microwave
X  Paint, stain, antifreeze, oil, dangerous goods / chemicals
X  Trees/brush/branches, Hot Tubs, Concrete

Please note that the Summer Village has the right to refuse any item.

East End Bus Society Services

East End Bus Society is a cooperative effort of the Lac Ste. Anne County, the Town of Onoway and the Village of Alberta Beach to provide affordable transportation for seniors and handicapped. With additional financial support from 10 Summer Villages, Yellowstone, South View, Silver Sands, Val Quentin, Sunset Point, Sunrise Beach, Birch Cove, West Cove, Nakamun Park and Ross Haven. 

Service consists of scheduled shopping/medical trips to West Edmonton Mall, and Spruce Grove along with excursion and rentals by service clubs, special interest groups and community members.

Home Support Program and Preventative Counselling Subsidy

The Summer Village of Silver Sands is partnering with Lac Ste. Anne County to make available to our residents two important programs hosted by the County:

Home Support Program:  offer a subsidy for light housekeeping services offered to seniors which helps them remain independent in their own safe, clean and comfortable home.

Preventative Counselling Subsidy:  offer a subsidy to eligible individuals, couples or families who find themselves struggling to afford the cost of short-term preventative counselling services.

Family & Community Support Services (FCSS) is:
“FCSS is a unique 80/20 funding partnership between the Government of Alberta and participating municipalities or Metis settlements. Provincially, the FCSS Program receives its mandate from the FCSS Act and Regulation. The Act describes what the Province and municipality/Metis Settlement can do to provide preventive social services. The Regulation describes how services may be provided … Under FCSS, communities design and deliver social programs that are preventive in nature to promote and enhance well-being among individuals, families and communities …”
