Canada Day Fireworks

A fireworks celebration was held on Monday, July 1st, 2024 at the boat launch in honour of Canada Day.   Funding for the event was made possible by the Government of Canada Canadian Heritage Celebrate Canada Grant.

Family Day Picnic

​The Summer Village holds a Family Day Picnic each year.   This year the picnic was held on Saturday, July 20th, 2024.

Planned events & times schedule (annual):
  7:00 a.m. – Toonie Breakfast at the Quonset
  8:00 a.m. – Golfing at the Silver Sands Golf & RV Resort
  2:00 p.m. – Horseshoes / Children’s Games at Carl Schnell Park
  6:00 p.m. – Supper $5.00/person or $20.00/family - bring a salad or dessert to share with everyone! (at the quonset)
10:45 p.m. – Fireworks Show at the boat launch site (subject to fire restrictions) -
DUE TO THE HOT & DRY CONDITIONS, THE FIREWORKS SHOW HAS BEEN CANCELLED AND WILL BE RE-SCHEDULED TO ANOTHER WEEKEND.


A BIG thank you to all of the dedicated volunteers who help at each year's events, this day could not be done without you!   We look forward to seeing everyone at this year's Picnic!​





Large Bin Clean Up

The Summer Village holds a large bin clean up at the quonset (1 Centennial Way) each year over two days.  This provides a good opportunity to help clean up the Summer Village by getting rid of items no longer needed that are laying around properties and cluttering up space!


The Large Bin Clean Up will be held on the following dates:

-Friday, August 16th, 2024 from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

-Saturday, August 17th, 2024 from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.


​​GENERALLY ACCEPTED ITEMS:
- Metal & white metal including stoves, washers/dryers, freon items will be accepted this year ($20 per white metal item –

  exact change only)
- Clean wood
- Mixed household waste (includes stained, treated or painted wood)
- Mattresses ($20 per item – exact change only) 

ITEMS GENERALLY NOT ACCEPTED:
X  Tires, shingles, TVs, microwave
X  Paint, stain, antifreeze, oil, dangerous goods / chemicals
X  Trees/brush/branches, Hot Tubs, Concrete

X  Construction and demolition waste will not be accepted, please haul this waste to the Regional Landfill Site (Highway 43

    East Waste Commission located on Highway 43 and RR35).

Please note that the Summer Village has the right to refuse any item. 


The Large Bin Cleanup is for Summer Village of Silver Sands residents only.

East End Bus Society is a cooperative effort of the Lac Ste. Anne County, the Town of Onoway and the Village of Alberta Beach to provide affordable transportation for seniors and handicapped. With additional financial support from 10 Summer Villages, Yellowstone, South View, Silver Sands, Val Quentin, Sunset Point, Sunrise Beach, Birch Cove, West Cove, Nakamun Park and Ross Haven. 

Service consists of scheduled shopping/medical trips to West Edmonton Mall, and Spruce Grove along with excursion and rentals by service clubs, special interest groups and community members.
